Our income tax aid association Lohi eV has been providing assistance in the old town of Mainz since 1978. This good piece of tradition in Mainz was brought to life by Mr. Miodrag "Micha" Marjanovic.

Born in what was then Yugoslavia, he studies German in Belgrade and works in Frankfurt as an interpreter for several companies, including the construction company Philipp Holzmann. In the process, he gets to know business life and the German mentality.

Micha Marjanovic is gaining professional experience and, as a translator, comes into contact with official German forms - including applications for child benefit back then. He would see tens of thousands of official German applications in the course of his professional life.

At the age of 21 he went to Germany. In self-study he acquires the knowledge necessary to be able to work for several income tax aid associations in Mainz. After gaining six years of further professional experience there, he dares to take the plunge into self-employment.

Micha Marjanovic opened his own wage tax office in 1978 in Lotharstrasse. A blessing especially for his compatriots from the Balkans. After all, the expert speaks their language and can therefore support the immigrants even better.

Micha has helped several thousand people over the decades. He not only assists clients in their needs with his specialist knowledge, but also calms them down with his balanced, lovable manner. He strengthens his angelic patience with his favorite hobby, fishing on vacation.

His office moves from Lotharstrasse to Zanggasse. The office has been on Albinistraße since 1985. Micha Marjanovic lives and works there until his death. In 2017 he fell seriously ill. Nevertheless, after his difficult operation, he worked for his clients until the end. After several heart attacks, he passed away in August 2020.

When I - Denis Dujmovic - found out about his death, I was very shocked and sad. Micha had also helped my family and me. I knew that his wife Irene had always stood by him. His wife has supported Micha over the decades, also as a volunteer in the office. Irene Marjanovic took over typing and helped, for example, with the formulation of objections and lawsuits before tax courts.

So I took heart and wrote to her:

“My name is Denis Dujmovic, my whole family and I were always members (clients) of the association until I started training as a tax clerk and successfully completed it. Since I think that the association was a great point of contact for people from the Balkans and those who want professional and inexpensive wage tax advice and that the association is a piece of tradition in Mainz, it would be a shame to simply close it and the company now . That is why I would like to take over the association, continue to honor the purpose and name of the association, in order to continue to help the people. "

Fortunately for me, she received my letter positively - and is very grateful that I have been carrying on your husband's life's work since 2020.

I am continuing Micha's work in his good spirit. We will treasure Miodrag "Micha" Marjanovic forever. As do numerous people whom he has helped in the course of his more than forty years of work.
